About Me
Since graduating in 1996, I have taught across the primary age range in schools in Birmingham, Trafford, Chicago and Warrington, where I was deputy headteacher for four years, as well as working as a primary mathematics consultant for Lancashire and Warrington local authorities.
In 2011 I gained an MA in Early Mathematics Intervention from Edge Hill University which was completed whilst becoming an Accredited Every Child Counts Lead Trainer. I lead professional development for teachers and teaching assistants to deliver Every Child Counts mathematics intervention programmes across the North West of England.
I am an NCETM Professional Development Accredited Lead which has enhanced my consultancy and training and I am a member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics which ensures I remain up to date with current initiatives in mathematics education. I lead primary mathematics CPD for teachers and teaching assistants at Liverpool Hope University where I am an associate professional tutor delivering lectures, workshops, seminars and tutorials for students training to be teachers.
CPD delivered by Claire is of an outstanding quality. Staff return from the training sessions full of enthusiasm and renewed energy, they have demonstrated a real eagerness to not only put their ideas into practise but to share their learning with other colleagues. Claire’s knowledge of the maths curriculum is second to none and she has ensured that staff have returned with very clear ideas about where to go next with mathematics.
